Tribe is THE place to connect with other hoopers from all over the world. I've met an incredible amount of hoopers who have given me guidance, tips and tricks, as well as that extra encouragement when I'm feeling down or frustrated. There are tribes about hoop dancing, hooping costumes, videos that help you learn technique, and even a tribe to just write posts about hooping and the joy you experience. Plus you can connect with not only professional hoopers like Rayna (Hoopnotica) and Christabel (HoopGirl) but also a wide range of folks at different levels in their hooping. It is such a wonderful place!
I even connected with a gal in my own town who will be teaching classes at a local gym. I would have NEVER known about it if I hadn't been on tribe. In addition to hooping there are thousands of other tribes ranging from cooking, belly dance, makeup and skincare, religion and political issues.
I'm forever indebted to tribe for hooking me up in the world of hooping!
Here is the link for the main hooping tribe, you can branch out from there.

so is hooping like bellydance except with a hula hoop? i've never seen or heard of this kind of dance. i'm interested though. i love all sorts of dance.
1There are a couple different views of hooping. Some do it for physical fitness and there's a DVD out now. It's a great workout and fun at the same time. Others do it as dance. Many bellydancers do hoop (I have a great link for that...I'll post it!) but I think its a dance form all its own. There's also club hooping, which is great fun to watch (LED hoops and club wear are awesome!) as well as something called the Hoop Path with is a more spiritual and enlightening form of hooping.
Anyone can do it. I couldn't even keep the hoop going a few months ago, and I just recently hooped on stage in front of people...granted I'm not that good but I'm working on it!
